Fine Italian food, more than amazing customer service and neat cocktails.

Costolette di Agnello alla Griglia

Colombo has its fair share of Italian restaurants, but only a few live up-to expectations. Out of the few, The Bayleaf takes the lead without a doubt.

The ambiance has a unique take to it as it's a marvelous colonial house turned restaurant. One of the main highlights is the customer service. The staff appears to be well trained and is evident that customer service is of high priority to them. A personalized service was given from the moment we stepped in and till we were done with the desserts. Since they have a wide range in the menu, don’t be shy to ask for their suggestions when it comes to choosing the dishes.

Food and Drinks

Two floors of dining is available and there is a fancy bar downstairs which has happy hours on selected cocktails and some local beers. FYI the happy hour deals are only available at the bar but not for dining in at the restaurant. The bar is a little bit under lit but that's not the end of the world.

Tried everyone's favorite drink to order when they are not sure what they want, the Mojito. It was well crafted and plenty of alcohol in it. Also gave the Strawberry Jam mock-tail and the Margarita a try and they both looked good and was tasty too.

Mojito

Moving onto the food menu, we gave some of the starters a go. The Granchio Al Forno which is a combination of oven baked crab meat with Parmesan cheese was the best decision made here. It just melts in your mouth and would be perfect if you are a crab lover. Second place goes to the Calamari Fritti which was crispy and delicious. The portion was bigger than expected and could definitely be shared among a few. Mozerella di Bufala was one of the veg options and that was a pleasant surprise too.

A wide range of mains are available for everyone’s appetite. The grilled lamb was tender and delicious and the mashed potato was splendid. The pastas were well made and you have the option of combining multiple pasta dishes if you feel like it. The seafood platters can be massive, so think before you order one just for yourself. We did not get a chance to try out the pizzas but we hear they are fantastic too. Given that The Bayleaf is part of the Harpo's Pizza chain, it does not come as a surprise.

Cassata alla Siciliana

The desserts lived up to their standards too. Highly recommend the Cassata alla Siciliana and you will regret if you don't try this. It's the ultimate combination of ice cream, cheese, dark chocolate, mixed peel, nuts and Italian sponge served with strawberry coulis. The Amaretto Crème Brûlée and the Sicilian Ricotta Cheesecake was extremely creamy and delicious. All in all, their desserts cannot disappoint you.

Wrap-up

It is the ideal place for some fine dining with friends, family and colleagues. A reservation is recommended specially on Fridays and it'll ensure that you get a nice cozy private area. Prices are definitely on the high side but you get more than what you pay for. For those who are driving, there's parking available outside and along the road. The Bayleaf has everything you can ask for in a restaurant; from tasty food to amazing customer service and daily happy hours and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
