Bar scene in Colombo is starting to get out of hand as there are so many new places popping up. It is definitely not a bad thing at all! More bars, more reasons to have a chill session with your friends, but the inevitable problem of choosing where to go to rises. Therefore you always want to keep a few places locked down for emergencies where the ambience is great, the food is greater and the prices are the best, so that you don’t spend a lot of time looking for a restaurant or a pub. And one such place, is The Irish Bar & Grill.

Location and Ambience

Situated on Park Street towards the Viharamahadevi Park end, it cannot be difficult to spot. Heads up on parking spaces as there is space only for a few vehicles. Yet the inside of the bar is beautiful thanks to the wooden interior. The venue can get a bit dark, but it adds up to the ambience which even makes it a perfect place for a date. Weekdays usually have low crowds but the Fridays are guaranteed to be packed. There’s a lot of space in the indoor area but if you are interested , the outdoor section at the rear end of the pub is also a fine addition but don't forget to mind the weather.

Food and Beverages

While they serve all the popular brands of local and foreign liquor including some fine beer, they usually run a 50% off happy hour offer from 5pm to 7pm every day of the week. This includes beer and selected cocktails only, but that is a relatively good deal as many other places offer buy 1 get 1 free rather than a discount. Also, they are not shy with alcohol when it comes to their cocktails. The food menu has a very interesting selection and items of all price ranges. The potato wedges and the fries are some of the cheapest options and the spicy chicken wings is delicious. Gave the calamari a try as well and we weren’t disappointed. Even though we didn’t get a chance to try the mains, the finger food here is amazing and so are the prices.

Customer Experience

Staff is well trained and you are guaranteed to get a premium customer service and not to forget the low waiting times which can be a drag especially when you are waiting to get your drink on. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a pub to start your pregame for a night out. Also, they organize random events such as pub quizzes occassionally, so keep an eye on their social media to stay updated. All in all, the The Irish Bar & Grill makes a perfect, go to venue thanks to its convenient location, attractive offers and the eye catching bar.
